It All Started with An Idea...

n 1966, William "Bill" Lomas was a trophy manufacturer who was trying to figure out how to increase trophy sales for his fledgling business. Parades were pretty good business, for trophies. Since all the participants were typically volunteer, the way parades committees get the various units to participate is by offering competitive judging and awarding trophies to the best of class in every category: Best Equestrians - 1st, 2nd, 3rd; Best Marching Bands - 1st, 2nd, 3rd; Best Drill Teams - 1st, 2nd, 3rd; Best Floats - 1st, 2nd, 3rd; etc., etc. In other words, your typical parade orders a lot of trophies!

A Winning Proposition

ith today's economy and fewer promotional funds available to cities, a viable answer is Fairs and Festivals. Your citizens BENEFIT by getting a major event at little or no cost, and your city bolsters its promotional fund for use on other projects. After expenses are paid, all proceeds go to the city to be put into funding other community events like Concerts in the Park, Parades and Fireworks Displays etc.

There are so many events that can BENEFIT from these rewards.
